Ayami Hiroshige Jewelry Designs

It's getting warm out on this side of the country!

With summer just around the corner (that means tank tops and bathing suits!), what better way to add that something extra to your outfit than with a beautiful bracelet?

Those of you that know me know that I LOVE accessories with skulls on them.

I just wanted to share with you this gorgeous bracelet I just got from Ayami Hiroshige Jewelry Designs.  It's right up my alley!  They are stretchy and Ayami can custom size it for you!

The bracelets came in a very pretty (and reusable) organza drawstring bag and a very nice notecard!

I love how bling'd out the skull is!  It's a gunmetal color with black crystals on it.  The size is just right, too.  Not too big, but big enough that it will catch the eye, and small enough to still be considered dainty.  Ayami pairs it very well with just the right sized semi-preciuos stones!

It's sooooo beautiful!  It's made with hematite and a sparkly skull charm!  I love it!  It's so very sweet and blingy and edgy all at the same time!  I adore that it's made with hematite and at $16, is extremely affordable.

For those of you that don't know, hematite is a strong gemstone that grounds and protects the wearer.  It endows you with courage, strength and vitality.  It can dissolve negative energy and at the same time, boosts your self esteem and survivability.  Supposedly enhances your willpower and imparts confidence while stimulating concentration and focus.

Her shop's got a lot of beautiful and affordable stuff!  It only LOOKS expensive!

Check it out here or click any of the photo's below.

I love that her jewelry is so wearable and you can wear one or a bunch and it would look great!  Can't you see yourself wearing one (or all!) of these at the pool?  I think a couple of bracelets would look great with a printed wrap that can easily transition you from day to night.

A few other things from Ayami's shop that I love:

I love how these looked all stacked together...that and a little black dress would be all you need!

So sweet and simple...can you see yourself wearing this one every day?!

This is so simple yet so bling!  I love it!

Love Labradorite!

I got some amazing new stones that I couldn't wait to turn into jewelry!  I love labradorite (also called Spectrolite)!  If you don't know, labradorite is a feldspar mineral related to moonstone.  It occurs as clear, white to grey to black, with black inclusions and like moonstone, flash silver to blue to green colors from within.

A little bit about the mystical and healing properties - If worn as a pendant, it's wearer is said to have a healthy body and a good fortune in their relationship!  Will awaken your sensory faculties of awareness, clairvoyance, ingenuity and perception.  Can improve health and aura, as well as provide quick relief from worries and tensions, replacing the feelings with enthusiasm, inspiration and self-confidence.  Will relax you and give you a sound sleep as well as eliminate pessimism and gives you a clear comprehension by boosting your capabilities and way of thinking to work harmoniously with others.

Aren't they gorgeous?  I just love this stone!

the above earrings were a custom order...two different sizes of faceted labradorite with a silver knot in the middle.  LOVE!

Lil Cuties Giveaway ends 4/22

It's my pleasure to bring you another awesome sweepstakes giveaway!

May I present Marcella and Lil Cuties!

I got started making jewelry in June of last year when I took a class to make earrings at a local craft boutique. I have always been a creative person & I love making things for others. I had so much fun in the jewelry class that I purchased some supplies & started to make more earrings. This was also during the time when I first discovered Etsy, and I decided that it would be a good place for me to reach out to people and list some of my creations.

Eventually I branched out to other forms of jewelry since I loved making the pieces so much. I mostly use beads and wire. I like the combination because I find you can do so much with them, the combinations are limitless! I especially love semi-precious stones & gems, and I have been trying to move toward the direction of using genuine stones in my work.

My store also features some creations from my mother, which is who passed on her creativity to me :) My mom is a seamstress & decided to make a few key chain fobs to add to the Etsy shop.

As far as inspiration goes, I like to take a look at current high-fashion trends & put my own spin on them. Usually when I sit down to make a piece, I look at what I have & just let the idea for the piece come organically. Many times I will start out with one idea & it finishes as something completely different. That is one thing I love about creating things, the outcome is completely in your hands!

Easter Basket Project! Almost free!

This project kept my nephew busy for hours and he didn't play his video game ALL day while doing it!  I consider that a success!  Plus, it's practically free, using stuff you probably have around the house!

Here's what you need:

Tissue Box
Colored Tissue Paper
Construction paper
Scissors
Elmer's Glue
Stapler
Pen
chopstick

approximate time:  1 hour each side, depending on your child

I used what I had around, which was a small size kleenex box

Cut the top off

Cut two thin strips of construction paper for handles and I cut green for the inside.  Glue inside the box, and glue the "handles" on.  I stapled for extra stability.

For my pattern, I wanted a rabbit, so I drew the rabbit with a sharpie first

then cut tissue paper into small one inch by one inch squares.  This was only approximately...i wasn't too specific

I put some glue on a cardboard scrap, wrapped the tissue paper around a chopstick.  Dip in glue and attach to the box in your desired pattern

Can you see the bunny?

Here's a picture of my nephew working on his easter basket

I did eggs on the other side...all done!

Hope everyone has a Happy Easter!
