I am a homemaker and mother of 3 beautiful children! Mama Pears Knits was created primarily as a way to provide budget friendly, handmade items for adults and children and in turn fund the hobby that I have grown to love! Most of what I do is custom, whereas someone shows me a picture of what they want and I figure out how to make it or they are my original designs! I use whatever fibers are requested by my customers and am willing to provide information regarding types and styles of yarn/fiber. One goal of my business is to spin my own yarn using fine fibers.

My inspiration comes from my family. I believe we each leave a legacy behind us and I love the idea of leaving a legacy of art and creativity behind for my children. The thought of teaching them to spin fiber into yarn and then knit or crochet it into something beautiful is an awesome goal for me. It is a privilege to take part in spinning yarn because it is something that people have been doing for centuries! It is not just teaching my children arts and crafts, but teaching them the necessary qualities of patience, endurance, and perseverance that comes with it as well.

My favorite item right now has to be my Midnight Matsuri necklace which I feel really captures a feeling when I visited a mountain shrine at dusk in Japan last year. 


As for my inspirations, I'd have to say my travels inspire me the most, many times I look back at photos and use the color schemes to create jewelry!  I love Etsy and have met so many wonderful people and products. I hope to learn and grow both my shop and myself within this awesome community!

What's your favorite item in your shop?

I love any item in my shop that is brightly colors :)  My favorite thing that I have designed is for sure these fingerless gloves, becuase I didn't think that I would be able to just make up a pattern and crochet fingerless gloves, but one day I just decided that I should try and it took me less than 15 minutes to figure it out.  I think they turned out fantastic.

What inspired you to open up shop?

Well one day my husband was actually making a bucket list (we're only 20 but he decided he should start now since he's a little bit of a daredevil)  and so I decided that I would too.  I was thinking about that fact that I needed to work on the baby blanket that I was making for my son, and thought "How cool would it be if someday I sold something that I made?"  And so, I set out to start my shop on etsy and I guess that's what's still inspiring me.  Each time I make a sale, I am thrilled that someone, somewhere actually wants to wear something that I have made with my own two hands.

Michelle Chang Jewelry necklace - LOVE it! {& Giveaway!}

OMG!  

I HAVE to tell you about the cutest little skull necklace I just got from Michelle Chang Jewelry!  It really is sooo adorable!  I LOVE IT!  Not into skulls?  That's okay because Michelle Chang has a TON of other adorable items you will absolutely LOVE!

Here's the box my necklace came in!  So chic!

I love that the charm is dimensional and has all the tiny, subtle, little details.  I also love that the chain goes through the charm and doesn't have bale above it.  Small details make all the difference!

It's super tiny, so it's very subtle, which I love!  Made out of Sterling Silver and about 1/4" high and comes on a super delicate chain.  I love that it's handmade and I can wear it if I'm casual or dressed up, since it's so subtle!  You have to come close to check it out and see all the cool detail!

I love how 3-Dimensonal all her pieces are.  No flat designs here - they have different levels of height and width, lending to the character of each piece.

Cheers for DeeCaffeinated wine glass tags Review {& Giveaway!}

I just received these super cute and adorable glass flower bead wine glass tags from DeeCaffeinated!  They are so adorable and so unusual compared to what you can buy in the store!

This is just how they came attached to the card!  So clever!  They are super easy to open with a simple loop and hook closure.  The work great with any size wine glass.

I got four colors - a beautiful shade of ocean blue, a wonderfully neutral cream and two great shades of green!  

Close-ups of the delicate flower pattern on each bead!  So pretty and subtle!  I love it!

On my Perrier-Jouet glasses!  Don't they look great?  I think they are so elegant and don't look as cheesy as other wine glass tags!  I thought the glass beads would be a problem because they are pretty heavy compared to most wine glass tags, but they were great!

It's my pleasure to introduce you to a shop you may not have taken a look at otherwise!  This is a great shop that includes hand carved custom stamps and vintage finds.

Kayla, please tell us a little bit about yourself and your adorable shop!

Letter Kay was opened August 6, 2010.  I've been running my shop around a year now and I love it more and more each day.  Never did I think that my stamps and other items would be as popular as they are!  I started my shop as a way to make a bit of extra money.  I love making things, always have in fact. Since opening my shop, my goals have changed a bit.  I am now working on expanding Letter Kay.  I hope to open a shop in a year or two as well as offer private art lessons and art parties.

One thing that I like to think about is giving new life to old items.  Going to estate sales, flea markets, etc. you come across a lot of abandoned items.  Some even get thrown away if they are not sold.  I love giving them a new home.  Items were much more beautiful in times past and I think they make great home decor.  For my stamps, I like to think about my customers.  What would be useful to them?  I think it is important to make letters, packages and other tiems pretty and these little stamps help that a little bit I think.  I think my favorite item in my shop would be my wedding rings stamp.  I'm not sure why I like it so much, but I do.  It is a hard decision for me to decide my favorite as I am continually getting "new" vintage items that are special in their own way.
